Magness Pear – how to get the sweetest flavour

We have Magness pears from Little Shaggery Farm on the list this week.

It is suggested that 1-2 weeks in the fridge followed by a ripening period at room temperature will ensure the best, sweetest, buttery flavour.

One blog I have read even claims that Magness, ripened correctly, is the best tasting pear there is!

They look like Comice & it is suggested that they have less of the grit cells that some people find offputting in other varieties.

I can’t wait to try one this week – i’ll update this post once I have sampled, fridged, unfridged & sampled again!
